Non destructive testing – NDT – use test methods to examine an object, material or system without impairing its future usefulness to detect internal, surface as well as sub-surface discontinuities which may create cracks, breaks, slits, separations, corrosions in objects, constructions and materials made of steel, aluminium, magnesium, copper and its alloys, lead, polymer materials, ceramics, concrete and composites.

Ultrasonic testing (UT) uses high-frequency sound energy to make measurements and conduct examinations of the mechanical condition of a product or a system.
